PFLAG of Angleton - Lake Jackson
We're thrilled to announce PFLAG Angleton-Lake Jackson has officially launced, serving the entire Brazoria County area! This new chapter marks an important milestone in supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families throughout our community.
Families, parents, friends, and allies are warmly invited to attend their inaugural meeting at the Lake Jackson Library (date to be announced). PFLAG provides a safe, welcoming space where families can find understanding, resources, and connection with others on similar journeys. Through PFLAG membership, you'll gain access to valuable support groups, educational materials, community events, and advocacy opportunities that strengthen both families and our broader community.
This chapter is dedicated to creating positive change through support, education, and advocacy. Family memberships are available for a modest fee, investing in a more inclusive and understanding Brazoria County. Together, we can build a stronger support network for LGBTQ+ individuals and their loved ones.
Their first meeting date is Scheduled for this Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at the Lake Jackson Library from 9:00AM - Noon. For membership information or questions, please reach out to their Facebook page.

February’s Highlights
-
HIV Is Not A Crime Day
February 3rd
HIV Is Not a Crime Day, observed on February 28th, highlights the injustices faced by people living with HIV due to outdated and discriminatory laws that criminalize their status. This day is crucial for advocating legal reform, promoting public education, and protecting the rights and dignity of those affected by HIV.
-
Pink Triangle Day
February 14th
Pink Triangle Day, commemorated on February 14th, originated from the Nazi regime's use of pink triangular badges to mark and persecute gay prisoners in concentration camps, but has since been reclaimed as a powerful symbol of LGBTQ+ resistance and remembrance. The day holds additional significance as it's connected to February 14th, 1979, when the Pink Triangle Press won a landmark legal victory for LGBTQ+ press freedom in Canada, demonstrating how a symbol of persecution was transformed into one of empowerment and progress.
-
Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week
February 18th
Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week, typically observed in the last week of February, is important for raising awareness about the diverse experiences and identities within the aromantic spectrum. It promotes understanding and acceptance, challenging misconceptions about romantic attraction and fostering inclusivity within the broader community.
