A Little Bit About Myself

I've called Brazoria County home for the past 11 years. In my downtime, you'll often find me gathered around a table with friends for an engaging board game session or teaming up with my partner David for some weekend video game downtime. During the 2020 pandemic, David and I took on the exciting challenge of setting up a 180-gallon saltwater aquarium, which has become a centerpiece of our home. When I'm not tending to our underwater world, I express my creativity through interior design, filling our home with an ever-growing collection of plants that bring life to every room

Why This Matters to Me

In a region where LGBTQ+ voices have often gone unheard, Brazoria County Pride matters because we're changing that silence into a celebration. Our suburban and rural communities need visible representation, showing local LGBTQ+ individuals that they don't have to leave home to find acceptance. We're building something unprecedented here - creating safe spaces, fostering understanding, and showing that small town values include loving your neighbors for who they are. Every time a young person sees our rainbow flags flying in their hometown or finds support at one of our events, we prove that acceptance and belonging can flourish anywhere. BCP matters because everyone deserves to feel at home in their community, and we're making that possible right here in Brazoria County.

My Journey

My journey with Brazoria County Pride began through my partner David, who joined the organization through his connection with a DOW Chemical coworker and BCP founder. While I initially stepped back during BCP's foundational year as they established their organizational structure, I returned with a vision to strengthen the organization's digital presence.

Recognizing the need for a centralized platform to amplify BCP's message, I proposed and spearheaded the development of our website. Despite having no prior experience in web development, I took on the challenge of learning to code and design, building our online presence from the ground up. This initiative led to my appointment as Co-Director of Social Media Services, where I worked alongside Timothy Wayne, managing our website while he oversaw our social media platforms.

As we entered 2025, our organization underwent a significant transition as Timothy stepped into the role of BCP President. This shift allowed me to expand my responsibilities, taking on the position of Director of Digital Media, where I now oversee our entire digital presence, from website management to social media engagement.

This evolution from supporter to digital architect to director reflects not just my personal growth, but the dynamic spirit of an organization dedicated to creating positive change in our community.

My Hopes for the Future of Brazoria County Pride

My vision for Brazoria County Pride extends far beyond our current achievements. While establishing our scholarship program marks an important milestone, I envision BCP growing into a comprehensive resource center for our LGBTQ+ community. I dream of expanding our services to meet more of our community's essential needs, creating a network of support that touches every aspect of life in Brazoria County.

A cornerstone of this vision is building strong partnerships with local businesses to create a more inclusive community landscape. By fostering these relationships, we can establish a network of safe, welcoming spaces throughout the county. This mutual support system will not only provide our LGBTQ+ community with comfortable places to gather and thrive but also strengthen local businesses through increased community engagement and loyalty.

My ultimate hope is that BCP becomes a catalyst for lasting change, where acceptance and support for the LGBTQ+ community become woven into the very fabric of Brazoria County's identity.
