We aim to make a safe space for all.

MISSION STATEMENT

Brazoria County Pride believes in a world where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, can live their lives with dignity, respect, and equality. We strive to build a community that is inclusive, supportive, and empowering for all LGBTQIA individuals and their allies. We believe that everyone has the right to love and be loved without fear of discrimination or violence, and we work to promote social justice, equality, and safe spaces for the community. Through education, advocacy, and support, we seek to create a society that celebrates diversity and values the contributions of every person, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our Story

Brazoria County Pride (BCP) emerged from a recognition of the need for LGBTQ+ representation in the largely conservative Brazoria County. What began as Brazoria County Pride for Youth took shape during the 2020 pandemic under the leadership of founder Evan Manuel and a small coalition of dedicated individuals, supported by a generous grant from DOW.

When Manuel relocated in 2022, Jessica Truscott stepped into the leadership role. During this period, Truscott established a formal board of directors to guide the organization's future. Under her presidency, BCP began establishing regular community gatherings. The organization launched monthly Saturday Morning Coffee socials at Wakey's in Angleton and hosted its first "Freedom To Be Me Picnic" at MacLean Park in Lake Jackson—a modest gathering that would later evolve into the annual Brazoria County Pride Festival.

2023 marked a year of significant growth. BCP introduced "Out with Pride," a monthly wine night for members 21 and older, hosted by various Lake Jackson businesses. The organization reached a historic milestone by holding Brazoria County's first-ever Pride Festival, centered around the theme of "Community."

In 2025, Timothy Wayne succeeded Truscott as president, immediately launching BCP's first major fundraising initiative—the Project Love Gala, scheduled for Valentine's Day weekend.
